Book sale to raise funds for roof

A book sale to raise money for the repair of the roof of St James’ Church in Stonehaven is to take place tomorrow (Saturday, January 19)

This will be the second event of its type with the first taking place last November when three members of the congregation decided to translate their love of books into a fundraiser and generated over £250 for general church funds in one morning.

They then decided to make it a regular event as it became clear that money was needed to repair the church roof.

The roof has been found to have extensive dry rot and needs over £20,000 worth of repair.

The second event, Book Browse II, will now take place in the Church Hall in Arbuthnot Street on Saturday, January 19, from 10am until noon.

You can get a free cup of coffee and browse through over 1000 titles of ‘pre-loved’ books. There will be books for teenagers and children, as well as the usual fiction, crime and thriller, gardening, sci-fi and many other sections. All the books are for sale at a price of £1 or less. There will be a warm welcome, a good cause, and a good read for everyone.
