Drumlithie After School Club funding boost

DRUMLITHE After School Club (D.A.S.H.) are celebrating after securing a £3,845 funding boost from Awards for All, which is part of the Big Lottery Funds project.

D.A.S.H. provide a programme of events within their after school and holiday care group for children of primary school age.

The grant is expected to help to pay for travel and transport costs, admission, arts activities, sports sessions, healthy food and eating sessions and equipment for activities.

Included in the programme is a project called ‘Healthy Body/Healthy Mind = Happy Kids’, which aims to encompass an holistic approach to health and by making it fun, generate motivation within the children to actively engage in healthy activities.

Angus North and Mearns MSP Nigel Don welcomed the news. He said: “I am very pleased to see that D.A.S.H. has been awarded Big Lottery Funds to expand the good work it is already doing in its community. The group will be of great benefit to families providing a safe and enjoyable environment for their children especially during the long school holidays.”

Lynn Stout from D.A.S.H. said that they were “delighted” with the news. She added that throughout the summer holidays a series of activities is running in Drumlithie for children of primary school age, or those who commence P1 in August 2011.
