Hillwalker says farewell

Our first walk of 2013 was in the St Cyrus area. Many of our walkers live in that part of the ‘Shire and they organised and led the walks.

Starting from the car park off Ecclesgreig Road, over 30 walkers set off up into the grounds of the Castle then carried on up to Woodston hill.

A circular walk through woods and returning by various pathways gave the main group a walk of nearly 7 miles. It had been a fine clear day with excellent walking conditions for this tome of the year, although a bit muddy underfoot in places.

Our second walk had to be cancelled because of snow. With more snow falling and forecast, leaving conditions underfoot slippery and dangerous, it was decided to postpone.

This will be my last report on 50+ Group under my title of the Hillwalker. It is now more than 11 years since I first sent a report on our fortnightly walks, but have decided to literally hang up my boots as I am not walking regularly with the group.

Hopefully someone will come forward to keep the reports up to date, but from me it is farewell.
