local Councillor for North Kincardine Alison Evison last week met with Aberdeen College Student President Lani Baird to give support to the Fund Scotland’s Future campaign.
This campaign is asking the Scottish Government to reverse the proposed £34.6m cut to college budgets.
“Further Education Colleges offer opportunities to develop the skills needed in the local area. They are also an important bridge between school and university for many young people,” said Councillor Evison.
RESOURCE
“We need to support colleges as a valuable resource in the local economy. These proposed cuts will have a negative effect on the courses on offer.”
Scottish Labour’s Finance Spokesman Ken Macintosh added “We believe targeting colleges for cuts is unbelievably short-sighted.
‘‘Reversing those cuts will give people the opportunity to get the skills needed to get into the labour market.”
