Read On! February Woodend Barn

Woodend Barn is renowned for the variety and scope of its arts’ provision locally, but until now has stepped aside from the book group phenomena of recent times. However, that is set to change, and this February sees the launch of Read On! a brand-new book group, which has the aim of bringing together people from across the community who are united by their love of reading.

“By holding Read On! in the Barn, the opportunity exists to bring together an entirely new group of people who may not otherwise have met, where the focus can solidly be about books and our experiences of reading”, Gill Payne, founder, comments. She goes on to say “There is no expectation that individuals need to have been in a book club before, and all those with a curiosity and enthusiasm for literature will be welcomed. It’s a new venture, so we’ll all learn together, and hope to have an enjoyable time along the way!”

Meeting each month, throughout 2012, the Read On! group will tackle a range of novels, including some Scottish fiction, and also non-fiction and poetry too. The inaugural session will be on February 28 at 7.30pm in the Lang Byre Gallery at Woodend Barn and is called ‘I Love to Read...’. There is no set book for the first evening, instead, all those interested should bring along a favourite or recently read book. Participation is free of charge, with voluntary contributions towards room hire and refreshments welcomed. For more information contact gillian.payne@hotmail.co.uk or seewww.woodendbarn.co.uk
