Volunteers needed for New Year

Stonehaven is set to be the place to be this New Year and volunteers are being asked to come forward to help out at the two big Hogmanay events taking place in the Town.

Stonehaven’s world famous Hogmanay fireballs are set to take place along with Open Air in the Square which will see Stonehaven Town Square play host to a day of entertainment as thousands of revellers turn out to see in 2013 in Stonehaven.

With thousands of tickets bought to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers headlining in the Square and thousands expected for the annual fireballs ceremony Stonehaven will be fit to burst and both events are now looking for volunteers to help make sure that Hogmanay runs smoothly.

Stonehaven Fireballs association are looking for volunteers to Marshal for the event. Without volunteers the event would not be possible every year, if you would like to help you have to be available from 9.15 pm on the December 31, until about 1am on the January 1.

You will help look after all the spectators. If you have marshalled for at least 2 years, you then get the chance to become a Fireball Swinger.

As well as Marshals, the fireballs are looking for registered first aiders to provide assistance on the night. If you are interested in helping out at the Fireballs contact Kevin Boyne on either 07811643856 or 01569 762894.

Open Air in the Square are also looking for volunteers to help out on the night with the car parks and the fairground. If you are interested in helping out Open Air in the Square contact Carol Humphreys on 07940412602 or email her carolhumphreys1962@yahoo.co.uk.

This Hogmanay in Stonehaven is set to be the biggest yet, and none of it would be possible without the hard work of many volunteers throughout the year. These organisations are now asking for your help so, if you are willing to help out on the night get in touch on the numbers above.
