Full house at cultural conference

The organisers of the AB Positive (AB+) “A Step Change in the Cultural Life of Aberdeen” conference, being held at Aberdeen Arts Centre and The Lemon Tree today (Thursday January 26), have had to put up the ‘house full’ signs.

The spokesperson for the conference’s steering group, Duncan Hendry (chief executive of Aberdeen Performing Arts) said: “We have had an outstanding response with close to 200 people from the world of the arts, business and politics registering to attend the conference.”

Delegates at the conference will discuss what is required to transform the cultural life of Aberdeen and the wider region and to find agreement on what is required to dramatically improve the cultural life of the city.

“We believe a new approach is required,” said Hendry. “We aim, with the help of the delegates, to identify a number of big ideas that can be delivered over the next five to ten years that will transform the life of the city. The conference will also consider what mechanisms we need to put in place to ensure delivery of those ideas.”
