Old themes, new tellings

Robert Tressell’s The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, has become a classic of working-class literature since its first publication (albeit abridged) in 1914.

The adaptation is based on Stephen Lowe’s critically acclaimed play. It captures the spirit and character of the book while maintaining tremendous theatricality, and takes a fresh look at the story-telling and physical elements of the play and expands the live music and songs. It will play at Woodend Barn in Banchory on Monday February 13 at 7.30pm

Moishe’s Bagel are an eclectic band who have taken their influences from an intoxicating mix of Eastern European dance music, Middle Eastern rhythms, Balkan, klezmer and tango.

The result is genre-defying original acoustic music, but who needs genres when your feet are happy? So shake off the winter doldrums at the Barn on Saturday February 11 at 8pm and feed your musical soul with some Moishe’s Bagel.

Tickets from Woodend Barn box office on 01330 825431 or online www.woodendbarn.co.uk
