Second homecoming gig for Emeli sells out faster than the first

EMELI SANDE will be performing two shows in Aberdeen on April 19.

The second homecoming gig by superstar singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé at Aberdeen’s Music Hall sold out within 45 minutes today – even faster than the first and setting a new ticket sales record for Aberdeen Performing Arts.

The chart-topper added the additional early evening concert on Friday, April 19 after the first gig sold out within 70 minutes on Friday and tickets went on sale at Aberdeen Box Office at 9am today.

“The tickets flew out of the door – and at 45 minutes, that’s a new record for us, beating even Billy Connolly and Michael McIntyre onsales!” said APA press manager Joyce Summers.

“Even with the snow and wind, queues formed outside the city’s Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre around 7am.

“At 9am, 1800 people logged on to our website and at its peak, we had nearly 3000 trying to book – twice the capacity of the entire venue, if they each booked one ticket!

TICKETS

“While we had the majority of gig tickets to sell, two other ticketing agencies had been given a smaller allocation by the promoters and we understand these sold out quickly too.

“Luckily we drafted in extra staff to cope with the calls, so all went well and we are now looking forward enormously to what is sure to be a fantastic two homecoming gigs on April 19.”

Announcing the gig on Monday, Emeli thanked everyone who had bought tickets for her show and said she had added the special evening show because there has been so many people disappointed at not getting a ticket for the first gig.

“I’m really looking forward to what is now going to be a very special day back with family, friends and fans in my hometown. See you then!” she added.
