Simple Minds to play in Aberdeen

Legendary Scottish rockers Simple Minds are to play Aberdeen’s Music hall in the spring, as part of a major new UK tour.

And tickets for the Monday, April 1 gig go on sale this Friday (October 26) online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.

“Simple Minds are part of Scottish rock history and we are thrilled to have them coming to the Music Hall,” said Aberdeen Performing Arts press manager Joyce Summers.

“We expect that the tickets for the April gig will be in high demand from their many North-east fans.”

Currently set to tour Australia and New Zealand, Simple Minds rose to international fame in the mid-1980s and have a number of critically acclaimed albums to their credit, which have sold in their millions.

Their best known hit singles include Don’t You (Forget About Me) from the soundtrack of the John Hughes film The Breakfast Club; Alive and Kicking and Belfast Child.

The core of the band is the two remaining founder members – vocalist and songwriter Jim Kerr and guitarist, keyboard player and songwriter Charlie Burchill – and drummer Mel Gaynor, who first joined the band in 1982.

The other current band members are keyboard player Andy Gillespie and bass guitarist Ged Grimes.
