Multi-award winning singer-songwriter Will Young is returning to Aberdeen this winter to play the Music Hall as part of a nationwide tour to promote his new album Echoes, due out this summer.
And tickets for the Thursday, November 10 gig go onsale this Friday (July 8) online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall, His Majesty’s Theatre and The Lemon Tree.
His last concert in Aberdeen – at the Music Hall in 2009 – was a sell-out success.
The actor, singer and gay icon rose to fame in 2002 after winning the inaugural Pop Idol contest, making him the first winner of the now-worldwide franchise.
His first single was a double A-side featuring Evergreen and Anything Is Possible – which became the fastest-selling debut in UK chart history.
Later that same year, Will released his debut album, From Now On, and since then, he has sold over eight million albums worldwide.
He has toured regularly since his first nationwide arena tour in 2002 with his fellow Pop Idol contestant. The final concert at Wembley was in aid of The Prince’s Trust, of which Young is an ambassador, together with Gareth Gates and Darius Danesh, the runner-up and third-placed contestants in Pop Idol.
Later that same year, he performed at the Queen’s Jubilee Concert in the grounds of Buckingham Palace, singing We Are the Champions with Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor.
Earlier this year, he tweeted teaser clips of tracks from Echoes, which is due out in August. The first single is thought to be called Jealousy, and is expected to be debuted this month.
