Well-known local couple David and Dorothy Dalgetty celebrated their Diamond Wedding last week.

Dave (83) and Dorothy (77) were married on June 19, 1948 in Logie Pert Manse.

Dave was born at Gawloch and in 1944, together with his father, he began renting Upper Thainston farm near Fettercairn.

Dorothy was brought up at Glen of Craigo and worked as a dairymaid.

The couple lived at Upper Thainston all their married lives, until moving to Queen Elizabeth Court in the village, two years ago.

Upper Thainston remains in the family with the couple's son and grandson now running the farm.

They have two sons and four daughters, all of whom live locally, 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A party was held in the Panmure Arms, Edzell on Saturday and Dorothy's bridesmaid, her sister Elsie Wightman, travelled from Canada to join the celebrations.

Dave and Dorothy were visited at home on their Diamond day by Victoria Willis, depute Lord Lieutenant and Mearns Councillor George Carr.
