Mearns Academy's Young Musician of the Year 2008 is Jamie McAndrew.
Jamie, whose specialist instrument is the bagpipes won the senior section.

He also plays bass guitar and sat his Advanced Higher Music this year.

Jamie is a member of the City of Brechin Pipe Band and of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland.

Senior runner-up was Rory Comerford (Classical Guitar). Intermediate winner was Adele Archibald (Piano) with Sarah Gillanders (Vocal) runner-up.

Junior winner was Lucie Hendry (Piano) with Nadia Kramer (Vocal) runner-up.
