Stonehaven’s Sea Cadets played host to three very important guests at their Royal Navy Parade this week.

The unit was inspected by the Northern Area Officer, Captain Peter Adams RN, in the presence of The Lord Lieutenant of Kincardineshire, Carol Kinghorn, and the Provost of Aberdeenshire Council, Jill Webster.

Also among the guests were two very proud grandfathers, Bill Lawson and Robin Barclay. Bill was one of the first TS Carron cadets when the unit opened in 1954.

Robin Barclay was a cadet when the Unit won its first ever efficiency pennant in 1960, first ever Stephenson Trophy for best Unit in Scotland in 1962 and the Canada Trophy as best Unit in the UK in 1964, 1965 and 1966.

Bill and Robin’s families have all been a part of the unit right down to their grandchildren who were on parade last night. A true family connection.
