Hornblowers are celebrating again this week as they add a regional Scottish Thistle Award to their long list of achievements.
During a ceremony at Perth Racecourse, Hornblowers Restaurant and Takeaway was named the winner of the Best Informal Dining Experience category, which recognises people and businesses that give visitors the best and most authentic ‘flavour’ of Scotland’s hospitality.
Owners of the Gourdon establishment, Alex and Ruth Grahame, said they were shocked but delighted,
Alex said: “To have won on our first time entering the competition is just such a surprise as we were up against two great restaurants. To say we’re happy is a huge understatement as we didn’t expect this – we were delighted to have been selected as finalists for such a well-known award.
“This is such a great tribute to our staff, who make Hornblowers such a friendly and welcoming place for our customers, and also our suppliers who help us bring the best North-east and Scottish produce from the sea and field to the table and then prepare it simply to showcase the amazing flavours our country’s natural produce has to offer.”
Hornblowers will now go on the fly the flag for Aberdeenshire and the entire North-east and Tayside region in their respective categories at the glittering national final in Glasgow next year.
The Scottish Thistle Awards will form part of the Signature Programme forScottish Tourism Week 2015.
Running from March 3-5, it will see Scotland’s tourism industry descend on Glasgow for three days for six must-attend events, showcasing Scotland as an ultimate destination for food, drink tourism and hospitality.
