Brighter Bervie is to feature on the BBC show Beechgrove Garden this coming summer and are delighted
at the news.
The group of volunteers were contacted by producers to inform them that they will take part and feature their Voyage of Life garden project.
Tom Campbell, from Brighter Bervie, said the group now needed the support of the community more than ever, to get the garden ready for filming in August.
He added: “The group is delighted to share the news that we’ve been successful in attracting the attention of the BBC’s Beechgrove Garden producers, to feature our Voyage of Life garden project in one of their popular TV programmes later this year.
“Only two community garden projects from the whole of Scotland are being featured in this year’s Beechgrove series, so the competition to be selected was intense. We want to thank everyone who contributed to this great achievement.
“Filming at the Voyage of Life Garden, located behind Bervie Church Centre, is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, August 20 and 21, with the “weel-kent” gardening personalities in attendance for the final planting activities. Being a coastal community, the garden features and plants will reflect our maritime connections.
“We really need to get the support of many residents and friends, plus local groups and businesses, for the huge effort between now and August to prepare the garden site for planting. All offers of assistance with labour, materials, services and funding will be much appreciated.”
Once the garden is completed it will be open for public use and enjoyment.
Tom added: “One idea we’d like people to think about is the donation of a plant or feature, in memory of a loved one.
‘‘On completion, the Voyage of Life Garden will be a ‘pocket park’ for public use and enjoyment. Its appearance on TV will reach a nationwide audience. As a result, we expect many visitors arriving to see it and other attractions in and around Inverbervie. The challenge and opportunity for our community is to keep drawing visitors back again and again.”
