the Burns Quoir met last week for the first regular session following their performance with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra at the Music Hall last Thursday evening.
A packed Hall listened to the world premiere of Northlight - a new orchestral piece written by renowned composer Cecilia McDowell with writer Alan Spence and sung by school and community choirs with the full RSNO. For the Quoir this was a wonderful experience - bringing a community folk choir into the world of formal music. The new piece of music was commissioned to reflect elements of the North East of Scotland and the composer and writer did this very well.
Specially formed to contribute to the year of Homecoming celebrations, the Burns Quoir have enjoyed a successful first year. New members are most welcome. If you are interested in joining Contact Sue Briggs on 07881 838560.
