We now find ourselves in the midst of Autumn with winter closing in fast.
This can be seen from the darker nights that are creeping in and with that seasonal change comes the risk of unlit and clearly unoccupied residential properties.
It is important that you implement simple and inexpensive measures now in order to reduce the likelihood of your home becoming an easy target for the opportunist criminal over the winter period. Internal timer switches on lights and radios, external motion sensitive security lights, good locks on doors, windows and outbuildings are relatively inexpensive to fit and can go a long way to reducing the likelihood of suffering a break in at this time of year.
During the months leading up to the festive season, the Kincardine and Mearns Local Policing Team in conjunction with our partner agencies, will be involved in a number of operations. One of these locally based initiatives will be Operation Interceptor, which will focus on deterring underage drinking in the Stonehaven area, through enforcement, disruption and youth diversion. Local officers will also be on hand to offer advice and education to young people.
Grampian Police continue to investigate a fire which occurred during the early hours of 12 September 2011 at Oatyhill Farm, Laurencekirk. It is believed that this fire was started in suspicious circumstances and caused substantial damage to a wooden farm shed. There have also been a couple of incidents that have occurred in the Luthermuir area, in the past few weeks. These seperate incidents have involved the cutting of a perimeter fence in an attempt to gain access to a commercial property as well as a theft of fuel by puncturing the fuel tank of a parked vehicle. Anyone that has any information regarding these crimes or any other information regarding any criminal activity occurring in the Grampian police area, is urged to contact us on 0845 600 5 700 or by e-mail to email@example.com.
