A Stonehaven couple celebrated a milestone last week when on November 10, they celebrated an amazing sixty years of marriage.
George met his wife Phemie at a dance at the Alexandria Hotel in Stonehaven when they were both seventeen.
They then went on to get married in Fetteresso Church followed by a reception in the Carron Tea Rooms. A picture of their wedding day can now be seen on the wall of the Carron Restaurant.
Mr Duncan worked as a farm servant before moving into the roads department and Mrs Duncan worked in a net factory.
During their sixty years together they have had four children, three daughters and a son.
Their family has expanded over the years to include eight grand children and eight great-grandchildren.
To mark the milestone in their marriage, the couple received a telegram from the Queen.
So what is their secret to a long marriage?
With a smile both reply that they don’t know, but what ever the secret, Mr and Mrs Duncan both still seem very much in love.
