a Stonehaven teenager has has battled his way through to the semi-finals of Scotland’s most prestigious competition for young jazz musicians to win the Scottish Young Jazz Musician of the year award.
Ross Hodgkinson, 16, succeeded in impressing a well known group of Jazz musician judges with his ‘blind’ entry. He was chosen from hundreds of entries sent in to judges. The semi finals will be held at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on June 17 where the judging panel will meet and see the 10 shortlisted participants perform for the first time.
This year’s competition will be rounded off with a spectacular final held at The Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen on Wednesday 8th August as part of Aberdeen International Youth Festival’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
