Six young people have been awarded with certificates after undertaking a course designed to boost employability.

The six youngsters attended the More Choices, More Chances course at Stonehaven Community Education Centre earlier this year.

The course supports participants to learn skills for moving on from school, including how to complete job or college applications, CV writing, job and course research, volunteering information and interview skills.

The course was run by members of the council’s Community Learning and Development team, with support from Skills Development Scotland, Volunteer Centre Aberdeenshire, Stonehaven Business Association and individual volunteers.

Ewan Ross, manager of the Co-operative store in Stonehaven, came and spoke to the young people about recruitment and what he looks for in new employees.

To recognise the hard work of the young people who participated in the scheme, they were encouraged and supported to submit portfolios to Youth Scotland and as a result, were all awarded Dynamic Youth Award certificates.

These were presented by Irene Adie from the Co-operative during the S1 Youth Group at the community centre on Tuesday (5 November) evening.
