The friends of Stonehaven Open Air Pool are all set to become a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).
The group will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting next Wednesday, April 11 at 7.30pm in the Invercarron Resource Centre, Low Wood Road, Stonehaven to discuss the group becoming a SCIO.
At the last AGM, in December 2011, it was agreed by those present to proceed with preparing the Friends community group to become a SCIO, and that an EGM would be necessary to dissolve formally the current constituted group.
The EGM Agenda is available to download from the website www.stonehavenopenairpool.co.uk
Chairman of the Friends of Stonehaven outdoor pool, Mike Robins, said: “We have already set up the SCIO and received our registration number and are now ready to move forward.
“We are therefore hoping that we get a good turnout on Wednesday evening so that this can be done and we can explain the next steps to our highly-valued Friends, whether or not they are actively involved in work to prepare the Pool for the coming season.”
SCIO status offers a range of opportunities to the Friends, including tax benefits, which will significantly increase the size of any donations received from people who pay income tax.
A few days after the EGM, on Saturday April 14, the Friends are also holding a fund-raising “Couthy Concert” at 7.30pm in St Bridget’s Hall, Stonehaven. Tickets, price £4, are available from Friends Committee members or at the door, and include tea or coffee.
