Laurencekirk Gala is over for another year with the event being hailed a success despite the weather causing Gala day to be cancelled.

With the week over organisers are having a ‘well earned rest’ before they turn their attention to the AGM in November and look for more volunteers to join them.

Members of the current organising committee will be stepping down with new blood needed to ensure Laurencekirk Gala week goes ahead next year.

The Gala committee posted on Facebook: “We will be arranging our AGM for November. Of our current committee the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary are all stepping down due to work and family commitments, so all these posts need to be filled. We are all happy to be at the end of a phone or email to assist the new committee to organise the 2016 Gala and some of us will be available to volunteer during the week to help, we simply can’t commit to being in charge of things at the moment.

“So, did you enjoy Gala Week? Do you want to see it continue? Do you have great ideas for future years? And do you have a good sense of humour and some spare time? Then consider volunteering. Remember, the more people who volunteer, the easier it is to do.”

Winners of the Beautiful Garden competition were 1st - Kathleen Birnie, 2nd - Jim and June Currie, 3rd - John and Kathleen Henderson, 4th - MCHLNGG (Bernie Dawks, Project Leader), 5th - Toby Burrell
