Inverbervie & District Probus Club met in the Crown Hotel. Numbers were slightly depleted as a delegation of members had gone to visit Montrose Probus Club. Nevertheless there was a good turnout to hear Ian Bell from Laurencekirk speak about Stirling.
Ian took over at short notice as the lady who was going to address us about Alzheimers Disease forgot to come! His projectionist was Charlie Black, President of Laurencekirk Probus, who was most welcome.
Stirling was the venue for Bervie Probus Club’s annual summer outing last year, so it was particularly pleasurable to hear this presentation - and Ian’s one-liners made it all the better! The Castle is a fascinating place on a large site. The Banqueting Hall recently has been restored and painted in its original gold colouring. On the same site is the Church of the Holy Rude (Cross), which contains the largest pipe organ in Scotland, and where Mary Queen of Scots worshipped, James VI was crowned, and John Knox preached - an impressive CV!
