Laurencekirk-based photographer, Kirstie Abbey, has won three of the top categories at The Master Photographer Association (MPA) Scottish Region’s Annual Awards.
Held on Monday, May 9, and attended by many of Scotland’s top photographers, Kirstie was awarded the titles of Under Fives Photographer of the Year 2011, Most Promising Classical Wedding Photographer of the Year 2011 and MPA Scotland Portrait Photographer of the Year 2011.
This is a huge achievement for the young photographer, particularly the sought after title of Portrait Photographer of the Year, which was chosen from the winners of all the portrait categories.
This success and recognition follows only a few months after being awarded her Licentiate by the MPA. This itself involves a lot of work to put together a panel of 20 images, which are rigorously judged by a group of MPA Fellows.
“I was literally jumping with excitement when I found out that I had won the titles of Under Five’s Photographer of the Year, Most Promising Classical Wedding Photographer of the Year, and the incredible title of Scottish Portrait Photographer of the Year 2011. To say I’m delighted is an understatement,” said Kirstie.
“The standard of work entered into the awards by photographers Scotland wide was very high, as it is every year, so to win not one but three awards is a very great honour and I am very proud. A big thank you to all of my clients and I can’t wait to create more award winning images!”
