Stonehaven Folk Festival is set to take place this weekend, and one of its highlights is always the aqua ceilidh, held at the Open Air Pool.
This year’s aqua ceilidh, to be held on Sunday from 11am, will be a special celebration. To mark the pool’s 80th year, organisers have announced ambitious plans to have a huge ceilidh band - with 80 musicians!
Chair of the Friends of the Pool, Mike Robins, said: “You really haven’t lived until you’ve danced the ‘Splashing White Sergeant,’ ‘The Spray Gordons’ and ‘Drip the Willow’ in our pool!
‘‘This is a fun event with live music which puts a smile on everyone’s face, whether they’re dancing, swimming in the deep end or spectating.”
The musicians are expected to be using instruments ranging from the traditional fiddle, whistle, accordion and guitar as well as the paper ‘n’ comb, kazoo or even triangle.
It is just one of the exciting things happening all over the town this weekend as part of the festival.
