During Fairtrade Fortnight Arbuthnott, Bervie and Kinneff Church ran five Fairtrade coffee mornings in Bervie Church Centre.

As well as selling tea, coffee and home bakes, there were also many Fairtrade goods on sale, including Easter eggs.

Arbuthnott Bervie and Kinneff are just one of 20 Church of Scotland churches in the Presbytery of Kincardine and Deeside, which became a Fairtrade presbytery last December.

In a letter from the Fairtrade Foundation, the presbytery were congratulated on everything that the churches were doing to promote Fairtrade throughout the area:

It stated: “It was hugely encouraging to read through your application and to see how much you are doing for the promotion and awareness to Fairtrade in your presbytery and, furthermore, in the community around you.

“This is evident from the amount of community events you have held from the Fairtrade gift sales to the number of articles you have written promoting Fairtrade. Your commitment is greatly appreciated….

‘‘It is evident that you feel passionately about Fairtrade … once again, congratulations and thank you for all your have done and are doing for Fairtrade!”
