Grampian Police memorial service

Grampian Police will be commemorating the lives of police officers and support staff who died while serving the Force and previous Forces in the area for the final time next month.

The Grampian Police Memorial Service is to be held on Saturday 2 March 2013 in St Machar’s Cathedral, Aberdeen at 11am and anyone wishing to join in the service of remembrance is welcome to attend.

This is the fifth year such a service has taken place, and as the structure of policing changes to a single Scottish police Force on 1st April, this will be the last dedicated service for Grampian based staff.

The service will be led by Chief Constable Colin McKerracher and Force Chaplain, Rev David Swan. The names of 96 personnel will be read out during the service and candles will be lit to represent their lives.

The Grampian Police Memorial Service will be inter-denominational, with other faith groups being involved during the service, and the Grampian Police Memorial Book will be on display detailing all employees who have passed away.

Anyone wishing further information should contact PC Michaela Gallagher on 0845 600 5700.
