Some 130 children from Portlethen Childminding Group, Portlethen Nursery and Great Western Pre-School have stretched their legs.

They were taking part in the Home-Start Kincardine Summer Stroll, to raise the profile and some funds for this local charity.

Home-Start Kincardine offers practical help and support to families with young children, who may be finding things difficult.

This could be due to being isolated, having no transport, coping with Post Natal Depression, or managing several children under school age, or it could be that you’re new to the community and maybe English is not your first language spoken.

Senior co-ordinator, Carol Butler, said the turnout from local community was great to see: “Home-Start Kincardine was originally set up in Portlethen in 1995, and the local community has continued to support us over the years in many different ways.

‘‘ It was great to see so many nursery staff, mums, dads, teachers, Home-Start volunteers and all the children participating in the sponsored walk last Wednesday”.

The money raised will go towards supporting more young families and also hopefully raise the charity’s profile as well.
