Over 200 people attended an exhibition and discussion hosted by Stonehaven Town Partnership (STP) at the town hall last week.
The organisation launched it’s ‘Plan B’ for the ongoing development and improvement of Stonehaven at the meeting and have called preliminary responses ‘encouraging.’
Over half of the people who attended the meeting have returned a two-page questionnaire distributed on the evening,
STP have said the preliminary analysis of the public mood was 38.3% approved or strongly approved the draft plan, 21.9% were unsure or were not convinced, 24.2% were against or strongly against it and 15.6% did not express a view.
Doug Samways, chairman of STP, said on hearing these results: “Given that everyone saw these draft plans for the first time on Wednesday last, the level of support for our thoughts is extremely encouraging.
“Clearly there are lots of issues to be expanded on and resolved, but the fact that well over a third of those attending immediately warmed to our way forward gives us the motivation to continue the exercise.”
David Fleming, secretary of STP who organised the questionnaire and its analysis, said: “We very much hope people of the town will examine the ideas carefully and continue to feed their views back to us. There is still plenty of time to get a questionnaire (from our web site – www.stpweb.org) and return it to us.”
