Local MSP urges local nominations
SNP MSP for Aberdeen South and North Kincardine Maureen Watt has issued a call for local nominations for the Young Scot Awards 2013.
Nominations have opened for the annual accolades which celebrate young people, aged between 11 and 26, who have made a positive contribution in their communities.
Submissions must be received by midnight on the 17 February and can be made at www.youngscotawards.co.uk.
Commenting, Ms Watt said: “The Young Scot Awards provide a fantastic platform to celebrate the achievements of Scotland’s young people.
“Too often young people are demonised and cast in a negative light. These awards challenge this lazy and inaccurate perception and recognise the positive contribution that young people make to society.
“On my travels around Aberdeen City and Shire, I regularly meet inspiring young people who have made an immeasurable difference to someone’s life or the area where they live.
“That is why I am calling on people from across my constituency, from Portlethen to Peterculter, to share their inspirational stories and nominate someone who they believe is deserving of a Young Scot Award.”
