Luthermuir Flower Show
THERE were 165 entries, plus all the children's entries at the Luthermuir Flower Show on Sunday. The judges described the standard of entries as being as good as they have seen anywhere this season.
Plans are already underway for next year's show and the organisers, the village hall and park committee, expressed thanks to all who rallied round to help.
Alistair Gray, Brechin won the Observer Cup for best exhibit in the show. He also won the Pitgarvie Potato Cup for most points in potatoes and the J.L. Annand Trophy for best exhibit in vegetables, outwith collection.
Derek Ritchie, Luthermuir won the Gossesslie Cup for most points in the vegetable classes, the Drumnagair Cup for best collection of vegetables and with his wife, the Balmakewan Salver for Best Kept Garden.
Ed Mitchell won the Rosehill Cup for most points in cut flowers and the Grampian Growers Cup for best exhibit, while Mrs Alice Kennedy won the Luthermuir Cup for most points in pot plants and the prize for best pot plant.
Mrs Catherine Dey won the Scots Corner Cup for most points in floral art and the Echo Trophy for best exhibit.
Francis Anderson won the trophy for heaviest marrow, his wife Janette took the Rosebowl for best local floral art exhibit and their grand daughter Mhiran Souttar won the trophies for most points and best exhibit in the junior section.
Morag Innes won the Novice Trophy, John Moan the David Robertson Trophy for most points in the senior citizens section and Ian Fraser, the prize for best sweet peas.
