Mearns Academy prizes
THE address to the annual Mearns Academy prizegiving last week was by Dr J. Grieve, senior lecturer in the Department of Forensic Medicine at the University of Aberdeen. Dr N. Balch presented the prizes.
Proceedings were chaired by Mrs Lois McCormick, chair of the Mearns Academy Community Group, rector Mr Ian Parkin gave his report and there were musical interludes from Sarah Brand on xylophone and Struan Moffat on the bappipes.
School Dux is Sarah Brand who won the subject prizes in chemistry, music and Spanish.
Runner-up to the dux is Naomi Gillies who won the prizes in French (joint), mathematics, modern studies and physics.
