Motorist suffers “potentially life threatening” injuries in A90 crash

A motorist is in hospital with serious injuries after being cut free from a crashed car last night.

The driver had to be cut free by firefighters after the black Audi A1 he was driving ended up on the central reservation of the A90 at Spurryhillock, south of Stonehaven.

The man was the sole occupant of the car and no one else was injured.

Following the accident, the road was closed in both directions with diversions in place via the A92.

Grampian Police said his injuries were “potentially life-threatening”.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and a doctor before being taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed in both directions and traffic was diverted via the A92.

The road re-opened at 12.30am after Grampian Police carried out a collision investigation.
