A Stonehaven fish and chip takeaway made it to the finals in this year’s National Fish and Chip Awards.

The Bay Fish and Chips was in the running for the UK’s Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award which was judged last week.

The Aberdeenshire shop, which was the only Scottish finalist, competed for the prestigious title with nine other businesses from across the UK.

Launched in 2006, the multi award winning business is run by husband and wife team Calum and Lindsay Richardson.

The fish and chip shop was recently awarded a three star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA), placing it among the highest rated restaurants in the UK. It is the only fish & chip shop in the UK with a three star rating.

Owner of The Bay, Calum Richardson said: “We were thrilled to have made it as a finalist at the national awards as it’s a massive achievement for the team and recognition of all their hard work over the years. To make it as a finalist against some strong competitors from across the country is a great credit to the business.” The National Fish & Chip Awards awards, celebrate the great British tradition of fish and chips, and rewards outstanding businesses across a variety of categories.

The Bay also made it to the final three of the Good Catch Award.
