Stroke prevention campaign

An important and positive new campaign to mobilise wide support for improved stroke prevention, treatment and care in Scotland has been launched by The Stroke Association in Scotland.

The campaign aims to mobilise wide support to sustain and improve stroke awareness, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and long-term care.

Approximately 13,000 people have a stroke in Scotland each year and there are an estimated 110,000 stroke survivors in Scotland.

Given this, there will be many people in Aberdeenshire who have had a stroke. One third of people who have a stroke will sadly die and of those who survive, at least half will experience long term or permanent physical, psychological or sensory impairment.
