“Touch of Tartan” evening

A “Friends of Forest View” group is being co – ordinated by Dave Ramsay, to support the work work of Forest View Centre in Stonehaven, a day centre for people with learning disabilities.

Dave was based at Forest View during the two year Father of the Bard project, researching and producing the life story of the father of Robert Burns, working alongside people with learning difficulties, as part of an Aberdeenshire Council and Heritage Lottery Fund project.

A charity evening at Drumtochty Castle is to raise funds to support the education, training, and social and leisure activities of the service users at Forest View Centre.

Dave and Ray Milne, are currently putting the finishing touches to the “Touch of Tartan” programme, and in the splendour of the Grand Ballroom of Drumtochty Castle, guests and artistes will be part of a very special venue and concert.

The Provost of Aberdeenshire, Bill Howatson, the Lord Lieutenant of Kincardineshire Carol Kinghorn, and Alex Johnstone MSP, have all agreed to be “Special Friends” of Forest View, and will add their support to planned events.

They will also be guest speakers at the “Touch of Tartan” event to be held on Thursday November 4.

As part of the evening, David Doig, Distillery Manager of Fettercairn and Tamnavulin Distilleries, will provide a “Talk and Taste” session on Fettercairn Fior, their new single malt whisky.

A cast of eighteen talented local musicians and performers will provide the entertainment, which includes dancers, pipers, singers and musicians, the Stonehaven pipe band, and poetry and story telling as part of the wide programme of Scottish entertainment for an early St Andrew’s night celebration. New material reflecting Drumtochty Castle and the Glen has been written for the event.

Dave said “It promises to be a great night, with a capacity audience, for the first fundraising event of the Friends of Forest View support group. The splendid setting of Drumtochty Castle, and the packed programme should offer something for everyone, and at the same time support an extremely worthwhile community service.”

“The high level of sponsorship of quality prizes, is a reflection of the willingness of local businesses and organisations to support the Friends of Forest View group.
