Eight year old Logan Atkinson, from Stonehaven, is going to take on the epic challenge of climbing Ben Nevis to raise funds for charity.

Logan will attempt his climb at the end of the month, on Saturday, June 28, to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust.

He will not be alone, though, as he he is doing the climb along with his dad, Stuart, and dog Maya.

Logan’s grandma, Sandra McWilliam, said: “I am really proud of him.

‘‘He is doing this to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust in memory of his uncle, Derek, who had CF and passed away in 2001, aged only 26.

“Two years ago, Logan and his dad climbed Lochnagar for the same charity.”

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic condition in which the lungs and digestive system become clogged with thick sticky mucus.

When asked why he was doing this climb Logan said he was very sad never to have met his uncle Derek and wanted to raise some money for research into Cystic Fibrosis so, eventually, a cure might be found.
