A DUNDEE-based charity is rolling out its popular street dance and hip hop classes to Stonehaven and Inverbervie.
Showcase the Street, a registered charity which already provides classes in dance, music, media, drama and singing to over 1600 young people in more than 20 different locations, will start the classes on February 15.
The programme, which is being offered with the support of Active Schoool Aberdeenshire, is open to 3 to 18 year olds.
And as well as offerring weekly dance classes, Showcase the Street gives its young people the opportunity to experience “the big stage and the bright lights” so the new Inverbervie and Stonehaven groups will work towards a joint show later this year.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, manger Neasa Ni Ghiolla Comhghain said: “We are delighted to have had such a huge response in Inverbervie and Stonehaven already and look forward to being a part of- and providing a service to- the local communities there for a long time into the future”.
To promote the new classes, which cost just £3 per person, dance tutors from Showcase the Street have been doing a tour of schools in the area, offering taster workshops to pupils of all ages.
The Bervie classes will take place every Tuesday, starting from February 15, in the burgh’s Primary School. The Stonehaven classes will run every Wednesday, starting from February 16, in Carronhill School.
Times are as follows: : 5.30pm - 6.15pm - 3 to 5 year olds; 6.15pm - 7.00pm - 5 to 7 year olds; 7.00pm - 8.00pm - 8 to 11 year olds; 8.00pm - 9.00pm - 12 years and over.
