A total of nine former Luthermuir Gala Queens attended the 2015 Luthermuir Gala Day following an appeal by organisers.
The Gala Queens watched as Lyn Page, the last girl to hold the “Miss Luthermuir” title in 1987, cut a ribbon to open the event.
Back in the mid-1980s, most of the Mearns villages held their own beauty contests, with the winners going on to compete for the Miss Kincardine and Deeside title.
Former queens present were Vera Cooper (now McBain) 1960; Hilda Murray 1962; Sheila Smith (now Lownie) 1966; Liz Stewart (now Dalgetty) 1967; Audrey Carnie (now Stuart) 1969; Pam Paton 1970; Kathleen Brett (now Ritchie) 1971; Marion Stott (now Corall) 1973 and Elsie Carnie (now Young) 1978.
The gala committee were also contacted by a further six former Gala Queens or their families, who could not attend the gala day.
One of these was the 1963 queen Margaret Cook, who was chosen at a marquee dance at which Scots star Jimmy Shand Junior provided the music.
Band leader Jimmy was clearly taken by Margaret because they went on to marry! Fifty two years later they are living in Fife.
Also in touch were Jean Robertson (now Hall) 1965; Val Spark 1968, now living in Norway; Gwen Gibb (now Gillies) 1974 and Rhonda Graham 1979.
The only girl to win the Luthermuir Gala Queen title twice also came forward. Daisy Carnie of Laurencekirk won in 1972, then after marriage, won again as Daisy Watt in 1976. Daisy now lives near Edzell.
The organisers know the names of the 1975 queen who was Nancy Strachan, Montrose and the 1977 winner, Elizabeth Simpson, Inverbervie as well as Michelle Moats from Edzell Base who was Gala Princess in 1981. They would still like to learn the names of the winners from 61, 64, 80 and 82 for a complete record.
