Have your say

This weeks Picture from the Past is from the Leader archive. It is from March 31, 1932 when the Mearns Leader and Kincardineshire Mail cost one penny.

The headline for this photo was ‘Popular Laurencekirk man honoured’ and told the story of William Fotheringham leaving Laurencekirk to take up a position in Stonehaven. The even looks like it was heavily attended.

It featured in the paper with the following caption: “One of the happiest functions to take place in the Howe o’ the Mearns for quite some time was the complimentary dinner on Friday to Mr William Fotheringham on his departure from Laurencekirk to take over the managership of the Stonehaven Auction Company. Our photo shows the principals at the dinners, with Mr John Robertson, Drumnagair, in the chair, Mr Fotheringham on his right and ex-Provost Robson on his left.”
