Police appeal after fatal accident on A937 at Marykirk

A pregnant mother lost her baby following a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A937 at Marykirk.

The collision occurred about 10.48am yesterday (Tuesday 12 November) and involved a black BMW and a silver BMW.

Following the collision, a pregnant 27 year old female was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and tragically the baby died.

The A937 at Marykirk is currently closed to allow collision investigations to take place.

Sergeant Rob Warnock, from Aberdeenshire and Moray Road Policing Unit who is leading the investigation into the collision said: “This is a tragic incident where sadly a baby has died. Our sympathies at this very difficult time are with the families affected by this collision.

“We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.

“A report on the circumstances will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
