Two Gourdon fisherman, who went missing earlier this year, have raised over £6000 for the RNLI.

James Reid (75) and his grandson David Irvine (35) failed to return to Gourdon harbour from a fishing expedition back in May.

The pair held a barn dance to raise funds for Montrose and Stonehaven RNLI, to say thank you for all the help the organisations did in searching for them.

They were found by passing vessel the Sylvia Bowers, from Buckie, approximately 46 miles off the coast of Montrose.

Their boat, the Water Rail, was reported overdue on Tuesday, May 20, and searches were carried out by the Coastguard, Royal Air Force, lifeboats, fishing boats and the Police Scotland helicopter.

A cheque was handed over for a massive £6323.18 to both crews at the Stonehaven lifeboat shed.
