Reunion plans in place for Class of 56

A REUNION of the Class of 56, the pupils who started at the Laurencekirk infant school that year, will be held in the Mearns Community Centre on Saturday, September 17.

The reunion has been organised by two members of the class, Lyndia Donald and Madeline Smith and a fair number of their former classmates have promised to attend.

Lyndia says: “We have decided to include anyone who joined our class in subsequent years. If a person was not a member of the first class in 1956, they are still very welcome.

“Our teacher, Mrs Paterson, formerly Miss Glegg will attend. She has a wonderful memory and is looking forward to meeting her former pupils.

“The plan is for a very informal get-together. People are invited to meet at the community centre at 2pm and we will spend the afternoon chatting and reminiscing.

“Later we plan to go for a meal or a drink together, we will just see how things go.”

The organisers hope that their former schoolmates will bring along any pictures or memorabilia from their school days to share with the group.
