Youngsters at Mackie Academy are set to benefit from an innovative safety initiative, thanks to a helping hand from Aberdeen-based company, Maggie Braid Associates.
The company has pledged its support to a new safety programme, Safe4kids, which educates children on a range of dangers, in an engaging and enjoyable way.
As part of its role as a Safe4kids patron, MBA – competence assurance specialists to the oil and gas industry – is funding the introduction of the scheme at Mackie Academy.
The initiative has been devised by Safe4kids to make children aware of hazards they may encounter.
The organisation has produced a range of entertaining literature aimed at getting youngsters’ attention and educating them on specific safety topics, including the internet, drugs, instant messaging/chat rooms and bullying.
These are supported by a fun ‘cool crew’ computer game, which has been designed in such a way that children will want to play it time and time again – either as a group or on their own.
Kids can play the game at school or at home, increasing the impact of the messages being communicated within lessons.
