THE scene has been set for this year’s Mearns Connections Festival, taking place from August 12-14 in the heart of Sunset Song countryside.
The last two years of the Festival have been a fantastic success and this one promises to be the same with some added extras from previous years.
Billed as “a festival celebrating Grassic Gibbon, Eardley and Burns”, the festivities kick off on Friday August 12 with the Mearns Connections Dinner. Chaired by Jim Brown, the evening will feature musical entertainment by Janice and Jenny Clark and Nicola Auchnie. Guest speaker Prof. David Purdie will also be appearing.
On Saturday August 13, Scottish legend Jimmie Macgregor will perform A Gathering of Songs, Stories and Famous Folk! It promises to be a relaxed and humorous show, with visuals and music intersperesed to create a truly special evening.
Sunday kicks off with a special Sunday service in the Arbuthnott Hall Marquee, and a concert on Sunday afternoon will wrap things up.
Sheena Wellington will be in conversation with Jim Brown and will sing many of her favourite songs. Preceding this, Mike Gibb will present a short version of ‘Clarinda’.
