Stonehaven Rotary Club were given a very amusing over view of the working life of Rotarian Brian Cordiner. Brian, recently retired, started his working life as a television engineer but soon gave that up to join the army as a radio technician.
He was stationed in Cyprus for three years and remembered that whisky was 9/- a bottle and petrol £1 for 5 gallons, changed days! He also served two years in Germany.
After leaving the army he moved to Stonehaven. For those who remember Blacklaws, he worked there for a couple of years before joining an oil company.
With fifteen years service in the oil industry Brian changed career and became a director of Standard Security Systems Ltd in Blacklaws shop in Allardice Street where he and his partner sold and installed security systems as well as selling televisions. When the shop adjacent became vacant Brian extended sales to white goods.
The vote of thanks was given by Derek Sedge.
Rotary had a busy week with their birthday flowers in the Nursing and Residential Homes, with two residents reaching their hundreth birthdays.
