The committee organising Open Air at the Square, Stonehaven’s Hogmanay event featuring The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, recieved excellent news this week when a contract was signed with EventsScotland.
EventsScotland supports a wide range of events throughout the country through the creation of a National Events Programme aimed at supporting domestic tourism.
The organisation is actively working on promotional activity to develop the Homecoming in 2014 and is also keen to see the Stonehaven event develop over the next few years.
An initial grant of £5000 is to be used to promote the event through a range of marketing initiatives.
In a separate development the Open Air at the Square committee have agreed to enlist the services of June Ross, Managing Director of Your Event Scotland.
June has a wealth of events management experience. She is working on the provision of a professional sound and lighting system, the delivery of the stage and huge truck mounted screen which will broadcast a wide range of promotional material from local businesses, community groups and charities.
Online ticket sales have been transferred to the Your Event Scotland website. Simply go to www.youreventscotland.com and click the Hogmanay Stonehaven link to secure tickets at £10 each.
June is also working on behalf of the committee to secure rides for the funfair to suit all ages. It is hoped to also provide a skating rink on Baird Park subject to funding, as part of the overall event facilities.
Michelle Ward, chair of the committee added: “There is still a lot of organising to do to make the event a success and the committee are working hard to achieve all our deadlines. Ticket sales are vital to the project so please don’t wait to the last minute to purchase them as you may be disappointed. We are also excited about a very special addition to the Hogmanay concert but will not be able to make an announcement for another two weeks.”
