Stonehaven’s own The Bay Fish & Chips is celebrating after reaching the finals of the Compass Group UK and Ireland annual awards.

The awards were announced on 21 September 2016 at a glittering gala dinner at the capital’s premier convention centre, ExCel London, which was hosted by Irish comedian and television presenter Dara O’Briain. The awards, which are in their third year, celebrate the outstanding contribution the suppliers make to the success of Compass Group UK and Ireland.

Being one of only five finalists in the Sector Supplier of the Year category recognises The Bay Fish & Chip’s strong partnership with Compass Group UK and Ireland, for the distribution of its award-winning Premium Bay Batter across on and offshore sectors.

The bespoke batter, which is accessible and free of any additives or artificial colourings, is distributed to the restaurants and military messes across the whole of the defence and offshore sector and government services, with several thousands of employees and high-ranking officials eating it on ‘Fish Friday’ every week. The batter has been created with a flow-cup system to ensure consistency, whilst guaranteeing portion control and reducing waste.

Calum Richardson, Owner/Chef at The Bay Fish & Chips said: “It’s truly an honour to get to this stage and for me it signifies exactly how far The Bay Fish & Chips and I have come over the past 10 years. It makes me incredibly proud to be able to offer my services to a world-renowned company like Compass Group and I hope this helps to solidify an already strong relationship.I’ve been in partnership with Compass Group for a little over a year now and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every part of it, the places it’s taken me and the people I’ve met. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us!”

A record number of applications were received for the Compass Supplier Awards with a higher number of companies than ever before entering. In all, there were 28 businesses shortlisted with seven businesses recognised with coveted Supplier Award trophies on the night.
