Two inspiring local ladies have hit upon a novel way of celebrating their upcoming 60th birthdays, by setting themselves a ‘Sixty List Challenge.’
Frances Richards and her friend, Pat Stewart, will reach the big 6-0 in April and May.
Since last April, they have been completing challenge after challenge, but with a deadline of May 23 and still more than half of their challenges to complete, they need some help!
A full list of their escapades and achievements to date can be seen at www.sixtylist.co.uk, and they include:
Long distance walking, running every day during December (and fracturing a limb in the process), running with Mark Beaumont, driving a train, going up the world’s highest tower and meeting Prince Charles.
Last week, the ladies took part in a spot of zumba at St. Bridgets Hall, as well as curling, going to bingo and experiencing archery.
They will also be giving a helping hand at the outdoor pool and trying a new spa treatment at CLAN in Robert Street in the next couple of weeks.
Frances said: “There is a list of potential challenges, but there may be some people in the Mearns - individuals or businesses - who can help us by allowing us to do something that the public doesn’t normally get to do!
“Can we serve fish suppers for an evening? What about driving a tractor or mixing cocktails? The Mearns is our oyster but there’s only three months to do it in! Can you think of an unusual challenge/activity or experience that two ladies in their 60th year can do while raising money for CLAN? If so please contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org”.
